The third edition of our annual cultural festival titled ‘Rasoham’s Unity Concert Series 2014’ will take place this November 23, 2014, Sunday. It will be staged at the prestigious Narada Gana Sabha in Alwarpet, Chennai from 5-7 p.m. Rasoham will be presenting Bhakti Yogam (Journey of the Jeevathma), a thematic dance production in Bharatanatyam & Kuchipudi styles of Indian classical dance based on the concept of Nava Vidha Bhakti, the nine modes of devotion propounded by the great child devotee Prahlada in Srimad Bhagavatham. This entertaining, educative and above all inspirational presentation had been very well received by raving audiences since its premiere in 2005 under the title of Leeye Parabrahmani.

The lyrics for this work have been drawn from inspiring sources such as Srimad Bhagavatham, Tulsi Das Ramayan, Vairagya Shathaka of the poet philosopher Bhartrhari, the poet Saint Thyagaraja, Subramania Bharathi, Yogi Suddhananda Bharathi, Bengali Poet
Ramprasad, Kavi Aravindan, and Purandara Dasa.

The music is set in 7 different languages (Samskritam, Tamizh, Kannada, Hindi, Malayam, Telugu, Bengali) to stress the universality of the message that the Divine knows no bounds of community, race or religion and there are many paths to liberation. Shooting a
documentary film – The Making of RUCS2014 is part of the agenda.

While the music and dance is conceived and choreographed by the Narasimhacharis, the production this year will be executed by nine young male choreographers and their teams from different schools of dance, who have been chosen for their talent and brilliance in their art. This distinctive conceptual collaboration aims at not only giving them a platform to showcase their talent, but to collaborate with each other to stage a unified production, keeping with the Rasoham philosophy.
